Art Supply Exchange Program

How the Program works:
The cost of art supplies can be very high, and a burden on artists and art students.  Art supplies and other materials are donated to the program by individuals and various organizations in Calgary.  UAS Members can receive supplies needed to make their work by visiting the Art Supply Exchange Room, which operates on an honor system: take only what you need and donate any art supplies that you are not using.

How to get free art supplies:
With this program you are invited to come and visit our Art Supply Exchange Room and take away FREE art supplies and larger tools for $10 or less!  This program is open to all UAS Members.  Memberships can be purchased at the gallery during open hours for 20.00 (10.00 for students with student ID).

Ongoing Call for donations:
UAS will also welcome any donations of useable art supplies, objects, or multiples that may be of interest to artists who work in various media.  If you think you have something to donate to this program please contact info@UAScalgary.org to organize a drop off time.  We may be able to organize a volunteer to pick items up if necessary.

Artists often use unconventional items in their work.  If you have multiples (many of the same object), or items such as archiving supplies, various small antiques, or other oddities please inquire with out Administrator at info@UAScalgary.org.

Items we are in need of:
  • Canvas and stretcher frames
  • Paper of all types and sizes
  • Rolls of paper
  • Building materials and sizeable offcuts of wood
  • All sorts of tools for wood, metal,
  • Beads and jewelry supplies
  • Sewing Supplies
  • Fabric
  • Ink, drawing pens and pencils
  • Various adhesives: epoxy, wood glue
  • Various binders: nails, screws, rope
  • Acrylic, watercolour, guache paints
  • Art books/magazines
  • Containers and organizers
  • Styrofoam blocks and sheets
  • Photography supplies
